Dental Professionalism

What does it take to become a professional? Simple. Know the rules.

Professionals have rules to follow, and these rules are the reason why some people are called "experts". In the world of dentistry, there is what we call proper "etiquette" or protocol to be followed. For those of you who have been dreaming of becoming a dentist someday like a dentist in Newport Beach, you have to know the rules and regulations first of ethical dentistry. The code and ethics of dentistry is a must to remember before practicing the career.

• You must know the SOP or standard operating procedure to prevent incidental reports like unprofessionalism, misconduct and others.
• Take the board exam for dentistry. It is the single most important unit that would evaluate and determine the incoming dentist if he/she passed the basic and main procedures of dentistry.
• Take proper pre-cautions when dealing with patients. If you would look at a dentist in Newport Beach, you would perceive them as very compassionate workers, and it's because they take good care of their patients by showing good moral values.
• Some people have their own culture and traditions, like for example Africans. There is a tradition in Africa that they have to scalp the teeth with a hammer and mini-axe. This serves as tribe tradition in identity casting.
• Practice confidentiality in all patients; do not give any patient's record to other people. You have to be professional when it comes to work.
• Avoid mistakes like prescriptions, wrong diagnosis, and mistaken results because your credibility is at risk.
• You must follow the rules and regulations of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).
• When using dental instruments, use it carefully to avoid accidents.

Over the years, dentists have offered unselfish service to people. Their professional reputation has been excellent (although there were accusations of dentists favoring profit over service). Dentistry is a profession, a vocation. It must center on patients and service and never on the business side. (i.e. if you want to be a reputable dentist in Newport Beach). Hence, dental professionalism must be practiced at all times.
